| "West Wyalong teenager did not disappoint"
Australia’s British 125cc rider Matt Davies has improved his performance at the recent round of the BSB at Oulton Park securing 5th place. The 14-year-old struggled to find form in practice and with some bike troubles adding to the young Australian’s performance things looked pretty grim for any kind of improvement on his 15th place at the last round at Thruxton. The first qualifying seemed to produce no change with Davies qualifying mid field in 20th position and no real lift to his confidence levels. Qualifying 2 started out the same way with the Australian slipping to 23rd position before everything fell into place and Davies went from 23rd to 7th on the second last lap of qualifying to place himself on the second row of the grid. With confidence now at a high, the West Wyalong teenager did not disappoint himself or his team owner, Steve Patrickson from SP Racing, putting in solid lap times all race to take sixth position. However with the eventual race winner being disqualified due to being under weight, Davies was elevated to 5th overall. This also placed Davies in second position in the ACU Academy Cup which is a championship within the British 125 series for riders under 16 years of age, allowing him his first spray the champagne on the BSB podium. |
